Spoke too soon!

Just a few days ago we had no snow, and everyone was talking about how mild of a winter it has been so far. Well, that all changed yesterday! Shaun had his first official snow day off school, as it snowed all day... I haven't heard what we officially received, but probably around a foot... thankfully it was really light, fluffy snow, so it was not bad to shovel!

The kids were full of energy this afternoon, so off they went, and Shaun made his first tunnel of the season- almost all by himself! We were lucky, too, not to have cold weather with it, so it is still not too bad (-10 C I can handle!)

It was a week of firsts. I forgot that we had our first power outage during the week as well. It rained all day, and while we were out walking after supper it went dark. everywhere. Alexa was a little confused when we came home and the lights wouldn't turn on! She kept saying 'No mommy turn the light ON!!' the candles and flashlights were a hit that night! It was off for about 4.5 hours- a tree apparently fell on a power line.
We'll see what this week brings!!

Mixed Emotions

Well, I should probably have felt thankful when I woke up this morning, and the snow in our yard was almost gone, replaced by a big puddle of water. But, instead, I felt a little disappointed. We have had a lot of fun in the snow this year, and now it is melting before our eyes. Alexa is enjoying the outdoors this winter, and so we have built snowmen, piled up a bunch of snow to eventually make a little hill for them to toboggan down or a fort, and now it's disappearing. It is +7 and raining... I mean really raining. It is Jan 26... what's wrong with this picture!!

Oh well, I suppose if it weren't +7 I would have woke up to 2 feet of snow- like last year.... :) I guess for now we'll dig out rubber boots for today!

I have actually really enjoyed the past few weekends- we didn't have any plans, and just did family things, and it has been a lot of fun! I have needed that break from the craziness at work, and I have, successfully, put work completely behind me when I'm done for the day. Thank God, or I think I would be one grumpy girl!

Speaking of which - now I have to put my work hat on for the day.... until next time!

1st visitors of the year!

Monique and Del were here for a week. It was really nice having them here!! I took most of the week off, so we were able to do a few things- although there isn't as much to do in the winter. It was a lot of fun, and the kids enjoyed their visit as well! ... can't wait until summer you two... :)
Shaun was too excited to make his Valentine crafts, so he did these with Aunty mo too!
Fancy hair Alexa!
Back to the Bouctouche boardwalk... it was nice actuallly, and we found many starfish washed up, but Alexa had to pee, so we didn't stay for too long!

Snowman time.... although it wouldn't stop raining, so they didn't make it over night- we now have a headless one, and conjoined twins... haha!
Toboganing at the big shediac hil... (man made, of course!!) Alexa's hands were cold, so she is trying to warm them up in her pockets... not very successfully though :)

Dec 28, 2009

What a difference a few days can make!! We ventured out to the park and Parlee Beach (in snow suits!) but it was actually quite 'warm'... -1 ... for this time of year. The kids and Mason loved running around at the beach- with NO ONE there... (wonder why??!) It was a fun morning!

Now, it is snowing outside. Again, it is warm, and can't decide if it will snow or rain. We made snowmen, which I will hopefully get pictures of when it stops raining, and came in soaking wet. oh well, better than -40 C!!
