So here's the story- I have heard about June bugs, but have never really experienced them. I remember people talking about them last year, but I didn't see any, so never thought anything about them. Heather told me they were out- and to watch out- as they are apparently are very sticky and like to get stuck in your hair.... and they come out at night. She showed me one, and I was grossed out.
But.... the other night Tracy and I went for a long walk... it was a beautiful night, so we just kept walking and walking. Then it turned dark. I could see these things flying around in the grass once in a while, and at first thought they were big bees.... then I remembered. They are Horrible!! I think I may have the early stages of a new phobia. They come out of no where, and fly around you- and they are loud... and crunchy... (not that I stepped on one, but I could just imagine!) They remind me of a cockroach... that can fly.... YUCK!!
So we pulled our hoodies on (I think I would truly freak out if one got stuck in my hair!) and tried to walk as fast as we could. We were almost home, but they are attracted to lights, so everytime a car would drive by, they would come flying around, all over. We screamed a few times, and jumped around trying to avoid contact. I am sure made a few drivers laugh - we were quite a scene!!
So.... no more going out after dark... until July!!!!
