Oh so close!
So I am one page away from meeting my goal with Shauna to do 10 scrapbook pages. I have about 16 hours left until the deadline, so hopefully I will get a little time to myself today to get finished! Here are a few I completed this month:

There is a big girl in the house!
Alexa is now out of the crib.... we'll see how this goes- last night she was up, not wandering the halls, but standing at her door ! I don't think she really knew what to do! She did go back to bed, thankfully, and even went back to sleep!
I, on the otherhand, was excited to finally decorate her room. Although I would have loved to paint, that will come later...

Foggy...Rainy...Snowy day!
We had a mix of weather the other day. It has finally decided to be cold, and REALLY cold... we are setting record low temperatures these days.... -20 as a high during the day, and windchills of -40.... It's winter time!!! We had fun before it turned cold .... good thing we got out before it turned on us!

Boardwalk beauty
Apparently one of our places to visit with company is the Bouctouche sand dunes/ boardwalk (as we went there with Shauna and Aidan too!) We went for a drive with Dovie Saturday, and although it was chilly, it was perfect timing. At some point before we got there, they had freezing rain, and everything was coated with a layer of ice. The trees literally sparkled like crystal. it was beautiful! We are very lucky to have picked such a perfect day, with just the right amount of sunshine!

I survived!
I made it to Badminton last night, and had a lot of fun! Tracy's friends also came, so it ended up being a pretty good workout (Thanks to Kim's husband!!) I look forward to tomorrow nights game now!
Now I am hoping that the weather does not get too ugly. It snowed last night- maybe 10 cm, we woke up to a layer of ice on everything, and now it is raining/ snowing. Fun times! I hope things improve over the course of the day so Dovie does not end up stranded in an airport somewhere along the way/ cancelled flights.

Trying something new!
Well, this year we are trying to be as active as possible. So as part of that, I am going to try something I haven't done in years.... Badminton! They have the school open a few nights a week in town, and for $1, you can play for 2-3 hours. Tonight I am going with a friend who lives down the street. On Friday, we may start a new Friday night couples date night with my aunt's niece, Caroline and her boyfriend who live nearby.
We'll see how I do tonight- we have bought the rackets and birdies, so I don't have any excuses. I'll let you know if I survive, and of course if I decide to turn pro (ya right!)

Getting Anxious!!
It is only a few more days, and we will have our next visitor at our place! Andrew's mom is coming for 2 weeks! Shaun is very excited, and has a list of things he wants to show her when she arrives.
I am hoping to take a few days vacation while she is here. It has been a long time since we've had a chance to spend some time together.
I hope all goes well with her flights, and no winter storms hold her up anywhere. That is no way to spend a vacation... in airports waiting is no fun!!
I am sure I will have some pictures here soon...
We are also getting closer to finalizing our family vacation (the WHOLE Drisdelle family and maybe more!) ... mom has been planning this for a long time and it appears we are closer to getting everything together- maybe June 2008!! I am looking forward to this too- so in preparation for that trip, I must hit the gym....

Up for a challenge??
Well, to start the New Year off correctly, Shauna and I have a challenge... although I am not sure what the reward will be- we didn't discuss that!! It is now in writing, so we can not change the plan now!
We will be trying to get caught up on our scrapbooks this year... 10 single pages/ month.
Maybe our reward should be a trip somewhere together?? :)
Anyone else interested in joining in?
No pressure Shauna, but I have already done 5! (But I will be out of commission for the next two weeks, so don't worry, you'll catch up!)
I need the motivation, and if anyone else would like to join in, just let us know!

A New Year !
It has been a slow start to my 2009... I just can't seem to shake this cold Andrew kindly gave to me, and have not felt like doing anything the past few days.
2008 was a great year, a busy year, and a 'big change' year. It all seems to be a blur when I think about it now. We were busy trying to sell our house, pack our house, and keep track of the two little ones as well. It was a year of change for us. But it has been a good change.
I remember when we came out east to look for our house, how calm and peaceful I felt each time we drove into Shediac. That is when I really knew it was the right thing for us to do.
We have found the little quirks we don't like (li.e. the snowplows on residential streets!) but overall, we are still happy we made the move. I often read what is happening in Calgary and I am so thankful we are not there anymore. I really would not want our kids to grow up in a city where there are murders every week, and so much crime and violence.
Anyway, on to 2009. What will this year bear for us? I don't really know, but it will again be a year of a few changes. I do believe that change is part of our everyday lives and not something we can avoid....so here we go! Andrew will begin school next week, I will start a new position- sometime- still not sure when, and Shaun will go to school in Sept. Wow... it is already sounding like it will be another busy and fun year!
It will also be a difficult year for many, if any of the recession speaches are true. It has made me realize that we are so fortunate. If I resolve to do anything this year, it is to enjoy everything we have. Things do change- sometimes out of our control- but so far, we have everything we need and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I have many other resolutions, but won't bore you all with them. This one is the most important, and the one I will keep my focus on.
So, I take a deep breath, and prepare for another year... :) I hope you all have a great 2009!!
