We are definitely on the Halloween Parade street... the kids started coming at 4 pm, full swing until the 7pm curfew!

Alexa finally agreed to wear her hat for her flower costume... after much convincing. Shaun was a lot more 'into' halloween this year, although after only a few houses he looked in his bag and said' well, that should be enough candy' and wanted to go home. I'll take it while I can!

I'll post more pictures tomorrow, as the kids are both tired and ready for bed.... HOpe you all had a great one!

A girls love for shoes....

Well, I have nothing better to write, so why not write about shoes?!?!

Where does a girl's obsession come from?? Nature? Nurture? Maybe both?

Alexa has loved to play with shoes for a long time now- not something we really encouraged... but she does it anyway. For the longest time, she would wake up in the morning and (with much effort) bring Andrew his shoes to wear for the day! She still brings us our shoes, just depends whose she finds first!!!

I try to not buy too many things, as she has so much already...But, it is hard to not buy the cutest little things they have for little girls... so this is what we bought the other day.... winter boots!!! Aren't they the cutest, ever???

Now, we just need some snow so she can wear them!!!!
... let the obsession continue :)

The week is over!

TGIF!!! It has been a long week, and I am very much looking forward to the weekend!

I was away for one night this week, which is always tiring, no matter what. Then, Shaun was sick Thursday, and up ALL night.... needless to say, without much sleep I was a wreck today! He has an ear infection, which I am happy to hear... at least it is nothing worse. I was beginning to think the worse case scenario last night, at 3 am, when he still had not slept, and was still crying.

Good news this morning, when I took him in that it is 'just' an ear infection. After a quiet day at home, meds, and a nap, he is bouncing back just fine... Thank you Lord!

I hope to enjoy the weekend ... maybe after a good nights sleep?!?!

Smile....

Some of my favorite lyrics...

Smile, though your heart is aching,
Smile, even though it's breaking,
Though there are clouds in the sky, you get by...

If you smile through your fears and sorrows.
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll see the sun come shining through.

If you just light up your face with gladness,
Hide every trace of sadness,
Although a tear may be ever, ever so near.

That's the time you must keep on trying.
Smile, what's the use of crying?

You'll find life is still worthwhile
If you'll just smile, come on and smile.

If you just smile.

I love Fall .... part II

I am still amazed at the colors of the trees.... They are slowly losing their leaves, and I know I will need to wait another year to enjoy them again ...as they slowly shed leaves one by one....

I had some time with the kids this morning while Andrew was working- what better to do than take the kids to the park to take pictures!!! Much to my disappointment, they were NOT in the mood for pictures... I must have taken 30 pictures in order to get a few good ones :) They did have fun in the end, but it took them a while to get into it!

Shaun .... there is a hint of a smile !

Yeah!! Big smiles!!!
This was the before shot.... PLEASE MOM.... STOP TAKING MY PICTURE!!!

He did have fun throwing them ...

... and then on Alexa.... she wasn't too keen!

Uncle Albert teasing Shaun

Uncle Albert has a great sense of humor :) While at his cabin he told Shaun to watch out for flea fluffers ... little blue men who eat blueberries!! Shaun was quite convinced! At one point, when he was cooking, he dashed across the cabin, almost stepped on Mason, and ran out the door hollering.... 'get out of here'!!! None of us knew what he was doing! He came back and told Shaun that he was trying to get in the screen door! He is full of fun and excitement!

Here, he was teaching Shaun how to make a flea fluffer trap (with a mouse trap)... enjoy!

Bath Time!

Bath time is usually a very happy time- the kids are tired by that time of night, and nothing really makes them happy other than... a bath!!

Alexa comes running when she hears the water running and quickly wants her clothes removed! Then she waits..... (aren't little bums just the cutest???!!!)
She is learning to move water between buckets and dumping it on herself. She has shocked herself a few times into taking a mouth full.... then she laughs and does it again! I am very thankful they enjoy this time of night... always good for a few laughs!

Being a Parent...

Being a parent means we're supposed to guide our children along and support them with their decisions, right? But how do you know you're making the right decisions for them when they are too young to decide for themselves?

I am faced with the decision (with a deadline of Friday) ... what school to put Shaun into. Normally this would not be a huge decision, but the situation here has changed. We basically have two options, the English school (with a possibility of late immersion) or the francophone school.

I am really torn. I think he would do ok in time at the francophone school, but the first little while could devastate him, as we have not been speaking french to him and he knows very little, so he would have to play catch up. But, I don't want to take away the opportunity to really know french by putting him in English.

I have mulled this over so many times in my mind, and I am still undecided. It is a decision, that will really have different outcomes for him later on... what is a parent to do???

So Thankful :)

We had our first Thanksgiving in our new home! I didn't get much sleep last night, so it was shaping up to be a long day... But, after a little nap I had more energy to get ready for our dinner! We had my Aunt Rolande and Uncle Paul for dinner tonight... they are great company! We all ate too much turkey and apple pie... but had many laughs and it was a great night!

Andrew was in charge of the meat, and just to his style, we BBQ'd the turkey... stuffed with duck! It was very good, and he proves to me once again to trust him and leave it alone!!

It was an absolutely beautiful day - so the kids had fun in the yard- playing in the sand as usual!
Shaun has been fighting a cold, and I managed to get him down for a nap... Boy, when he woke up he was FULL of spunk! I don't think he stopped from the moment he got up until he finally agreed to go to bed. He sure can get us laughing!

I failed at making a pie crust, so Alexa and I went to the store this morning. Much to my dismay, it wasn't open yet... instead of going back home we went to the docks- it's always refreshing to be by the water...
There were seagulls hanging around the docks, but they all flew away when we got there.... Poor Alexa wasn't very happy... she LOVES to chase them!

Overall it was a great day. I have so much to be thankful for.... thankful for a great husband (who knows how to cook!) .... thankful for two healthy kids who always make me smile.... thankful for all the friends and family in my life.... thankful for the beautiful weather we have had this week.... thankful for so much.... :)

Recent Scrapbook pages

I missed going to the scrapbooking retreat this weekend- I guess that's my fault for moving away! I have worked on pictures a bit since we've moved- here are a few layouts I've managed to complete!

The pages I've done with my new cricut machine Andrew bought me this summer... way to go honey!!

I love Fall....

Shaun surprised me today with this monster truck birthday cake! He was quite excited about it, and was apparently quite adament that this "was THE ONE that mommy would want"!! I guess I need a little manliness in my life once in a while!

I was away the last few days for work, and he was super excited when I came home to tell me about this cake! What a sweetie!

I don't know what it is about Fall that I love so much... I have always been drawn to it.

I don't know if it is the beauty, or just the reminder that there is always a time to shed the past and start fresh again. Nonetheless, I still love it.

I especially love it this year, as this is the first year we are out east, and the colors here are spectacular! We have been spending a lot more time outside lately, as I just can't seem to get enough of it and am trying to take it all in. We had a great time at this park in Moncton with my Aunt Rolande. I look forward to going back one day soon!

I am thinking one of our new traditions will be to go to the orchards to pick apples.... we went on Sunday with some friends, and I loved it! Although you can't tell from this picture, the trees had hundreds of apples to choose from, and they are delicious!

This particular orchard has a lot of other things to buy/ pick, so I am hoping we will go more often! Shaun had a great time and Alexa wasn't really sure what was happening, but loved eating the apples anyway!!

Little Boy and Little Girl....

I am very lucky to have a boy and a girl. I know it is a true blessing. They both come with their own differences and uniqueness, that's for sure!

We recently discovered Alexa loves chilli. Who would have thought? Actually she loves food. Usually does not really matter what it is, as long as it is edible and has some flavor. She eats more than Shaun some days. She must be blessed with a high metabolism.... lucky girl!

Shaun is a quiet little man, but does come out of his 'shell' and is actually quite funny! I see he is growing up, and is starting to do many 'boy things' such as: roaring like a dinosaur, making only goofy faces when I try to take his picture and tackling us out of the blue! Thank God he is still a little boy at heart, and loves his mommy! It is so nice to get big bear hugs from him!!

Alexa, on the other hand, is not yet much of a girly girl. Well, she is, but she has a LOT of character! She has her little doll, which she feeds and hugs. She is quite affectionate, and often tries to hug Mason- sometimes too much and he gets growly.... but she loves him so much!

They both have great laughs. Always makes us smile and laugh too!
