Cabot Trail - NS

We have not been back to the Cabot Trail since our first trip out here in 2001. Although we have many pictures, I didn't remember it to be as beautiful and stunning as I did this time. While Eileen was here, we decided to go for the weekend... we were hoping the fall colours would be in their peak, and it is a beautiful drive none-the-less. We were amazed at the beauty- and even though the reds and oranges were just starting to appear - it was a great weekend!

We attempted a family photo with a stranger... funny enough, I think it may be the best one of us this year, after many attempts!!

Looking back at the trail from the north side.

Where earth meets the ocean...

This is on the way, along a little dirt road, to Meat Cove. We camped near here in 2001 and Andrew absolutely fell in love with the place! It is a little ways off the beaten path, but still oh so beautiful. Actually, I don't remember this part AT ALL from our first trip, we were pleasantly surprised to see the beauty! Meat cove is a little village at the most northern part of Cape Breton, with a population of 60. There is a restaurant/ internet cafe and a campground... oh and now a few cabins to rent. A quiet and beautiful place to see!

Can they just sit nice for their picture??? ... nope... goofy kids it is!!

Eileen was here for a week. It was a great week, lots of catch up time, exploring of the coast, and fun with the kids. Thank you so much Eileen for coming... I loved our visit!!

Although it was cloudy most of the weekend, the sun tried to peak through here and there...

I have heard it many times that this is one of the top 5 drives in Canada to do, and although I always remembered it to be nice, it really is amazingly beautiful.... I think this drive and Vancouver to Whistler are definitely in my top 3... I don't know what else could be more beautiful... mountains and water... :)
